| Add this cool little gadget
to your bag of tricks! The BASIC ASCENDER
is fitted on rope (like a pulley) and locked
in place with a biner - which serves as
your ascenders "handle". When
weight is applied, case rotates and internal
toggle arm presses rope against fixed block
to support your position! The BASIC ascender
slides easily up the rope and for fixed
line use in the mountains can be pulled
along by a short sling attached to your
harness. Should you slip, the BASIC ASCENDER
catches fast - without damage to your ropes
sheath. Great for use on muddy, wet or icey
ropes.
For solo top rope practice, anchor your
rope directly above your intended climbing
route, attach the BASIC to the rope and
clip directly to your harness' belay loop
- with a symmetrical locking biner (oval
or rounded pear). Be sure to a tie back
up jam-knot once you are off the ground
and also every few feet there after. Your
BASIC will follow your every move closely
- and you'll be able to climb more naturally
with both hands on the rock.
For ascending long free hanging fixed ropes
on big wall climbs - position between your
handled ascenders and clip with a locking
biner to a separate daisy chain for greatest
redundancy.
Now available in Aluminum or the original
lightweight Titanium model - compact and
light enough to carry on every climb for
self-rescue, sack hauling and following
difficult pitches. Rated for Fall Factor
1 fixed rope self belay and for use on 8-13mm
dynamic rope. Not for use as lead climbing
belay device.
